Denise Dancing School

Jocelyn began her dance studies at Barbara’s School of Dance in Anchorage, Alaska, where as a teenager she also spent 6 years working in their teacher apprenticeship program.

After completing high school she moved to New York to study Dance at Niagara University as a part of the Performance Theatre program while also receiving a BA in Sociology.  Following her undergraduate studies Jocelyn performed in a variety of dance and musical theatre productions in New York, working with such companies as American Repertoire Theatre, The Francis Bacon Experiment, The Matthew Clark Dance Company, ZPAC, and Danceology.

After a few years living the life of a starving artist Jocelyn decided to pursue her original love of teaching with the continuation of her own education at the University of Roehampton in London, where she received a Master of Arts in Dance Studies.  Her dissertation, entitled Training Bodies; Training Dancers, examined theories regarding the advantage of eclectic training programs in the safe and effective psychical training and emotional nurturing of aspiring professional dancers.

In addition to dancing, Jocelyn enjoys music, reading, travelling of any kind, snowboarding, skateboarding, and most recently is learning to surf.
